Kayla and Joel found a way to mix North and South along with Formal and Casual for the best of both worlds! ~ Being a Southern gal myself, the opportunity to work with Kayla as she planned her Southern Summer Wedding in Charlotte, North Carolina was a blast. Seersucker was a background theme right out of the starting gate with preppy Save-the-Dates featuring a photograph of the couple and their dog wearing a seersucker bow tie.
Both Kayla and her now husband, Joel, are school teachers in Boston with many of their friends and family traveling to Charlotte for the wedding weekend. To make the most of the weekend and really enjoy the company of so many friends and family coming together the wedding was an all day affair – starting early with a classic Formal wedding and ending late with a Casual blast of a pool party. To ensure the invitation suite matched the tone of the wedding the ceremony invitation, brunch reception and accommodations information were printed on natural white fine Arturo Italian cotton paper in Navy and Pink raised text. A custom monogram was created using the K and J from their first names with a pink stripe ribbon and navy envelope liner to complete the package. The evening pool party had a blue seersucker background with whimsical typestyle use of the word Pool.
Starting early with a 10 AM wedding ceremony at Saint Luke’s Catholic Church in Mint Hill, North Carolina followed by a beautiful brunch reception at Firethorne Country Club allowed Kayla and Joel to have all the traditional wedding moments such as walking down an aisle on Dad’s arm in a gorgeous dress, a beautiful ceremony, an elegant and fun first dance, cutting the cake and make the most of a beautiful day capturing it all in some amazing wedding photographs by Piper Warlick Photography.
The brunch reception ended at 3PM, and guests had a little down time to change and get ready for a Pool party at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation from 8 pm till midnight. Classic Carolina BBQ was served, lawn games were played and they ended the night with a visit from an ice cream truck. Truly the best of all worlds! As Kayla said in her own words …
“As we took a step back, my husband and I realized how lucky we were to be surrounded by our closest family and friends. Not only did we get to celebrate with them at the reception, but we got to spend quality one-on-one time with every guest at the pool party. Everyone was celebrating into the wee hours of the morning, including my 85 and 89 year old grandmas (one wore my veil the whole night!). This is something we will always cherish.”
editor’s note … Kayla & Joel’s wedding invitation suite and their work with Addie Mae Weiss of White on White was recently featured in chapter 10 “Faith, Hope And Seersucker” of Bill Haltom’s book by the title Milk and Sugar * The Complete Book of Seersucker.
