The best invitation sets the tone of the party for guests and my greatest joy is working with clients to create that initial impression in a fun and personal way and watching how it unfolds all the way through to the day of event. On this overcast day outside Boston winter is slowly receding but a year ago Max was celebrating the major achievement of his Bar Mitzvah with friends and family at an Olympic themed bash. 2014 was the year of the Sochi Winter Olympics and Max and his mom, Jennifer, met with me armed with lots of creative ideas to incorporate the great themes of togetherness, spirit, color and fun celebrated during the Olympics. It is not a far stretch to relate the athletes preparation for competition to the years of study and preparation and finally getting up to perform before the world when called to the Torah.
The invitation was printed on crisp white dutch felt paper in a tall format with Max’s favorite colors, Red and Blue, dominating. The back of the invitation had a pocket to hold all the information for guests regarding a weekend of celebration. Fun bold typestyles ensured all of the information stood out. One of my favorite details used on the RSVP postcard for guests was all of the olympic tag lines occurring during Max’s lifetime such as: Light the Fire Within – Salt Lake City 2002 and Passion Lives Here – Torino 2006 up to Hot.Cool.Yours – Sochi 2014.
The Olympic theme helped set the tone for decor with bright primary colors and food a mix of fun international flavors. The logo created for Max’s invitation suite was repeated on other elements at the party to fully tie everything together. The best part was on the day of the party everyone had a lot of FUN!
